Origin: Found on plant debris, soil and air samples. Found indoors on various substrates. Common in the environment.
Health effects: Occasionally a cause of ocular keratitis, sinusitis, mycetoma (draining subcutaneous lesions and the extremities), pneumonia, endocarditis, cerebral abscess, and disseminated infection. May also cause allergies, and infection of the nasal septum, opporunistic infections, eye infections, and pulmonary phaeohyphomycosis. Most cases are from immunocompromised patients.
