Drechslera, Bipolaris, Helminthosporium and Exserohilum group
Origin: Found on plant debris, soil, grasses, indoors, and outdoor air samples. This group is often hard to distinguish in air samples.
Health affects: Some species can produce mycotoxins, which can affect the liver. Can cause some eye infections, sinusitis, hay fever and asthma. Occasionally infects bones, aorta, lungs, brain, and skin. Frequently causes keratomycosis and fungal sinusitis,or occasionally subcutaneous abscesses or phaeohypomycosis. Meningitis, allergies and peritonitis also have been reported.
