Origin: This group of fungi are part of the Ascomycota. They are parasitic on living plants and cause leaf scab on fruit such as apples.
The species in air samples are very common especially after rain. They are part of the Ascomycota.
Health effects: They are not known to cause human health problems but are found in very high numbers in the spring during apple blossom season.
